Level: | High School Student Expecting to Graduate in June 2016 |
I am an 11th grade student at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia.
I am currently participating in the IB (International Baccalaureate) diploma curriculum. IB is a demanding two-year program, which mirrors the university style of teaching and learning. I have taken higher-level courses in biology, chemistry, physics, algebra, and precalculus as I have a keen interest in learning these subjects and had covered the standard levels in earlier grades.
Over the years I have attended various science fairs, including the Virginia Junior Academy of Science (VJAS), the Northern Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair, and the Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair (VSSEF).
I have received first place in chemistry in the 2014 Northern Virginia Regional Science and Engineering Fair, third place in chemistry in the 2014 VSSEF, the second prize Aerospace Award from the American Institute of Aeronatics and Astronautics (AIAA) of $100, a Certificate of Merit from the Virginia Section of the American Water Works Association (VAWWA) with an $100 prize, a U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Prize regional certificate, a Certificate of Award by the Federal Water Quality Association (FWQA), and second place in environmental science in the 2013 Northern Virginia Regional Science Fair.
Most recently, I have won a National Center for Women & Information Technology award (2015).
