Level: | High School Student Expecting to Graduate in June 2015 |
Over the last four years I have experimented with production processes for cellulosic ethanol, and have developed a novel method which has a 97% conversion yield, 1:4.73 input to output energy ratio and costs $25 per 100 gallons to produce. I am currently obtaining a patent for this work.
I've competed in Broadcom MASTERS (semi-finalist), Intel ISEF 2013 (4th place in Chemistry), MOSTRATEC 2013 (took "Best of the United States"), and INESPO 2014 (1st Place Overall).
Research aside, I play Catcher and 1st base in Fast-pitch Softball, and throw shotput and discus. I am a member of the International Thespian Society and the principal second violin in my school orchestra. I also volunteer as a Teen Councilor for Women's Crisis Support ~ Defensa de Mujeres and tutor students in Algebra II, Physics, Chemistry, Precalculus, and Latin. In what little free time I manage, nothing beats a good book or a coffee with friends.
I am a huge proponent of women in science and go out of my way to help younger girls stay interested in science. I had wonderful role models when I was little and it only seems fitting that I try my best to be one now.
