Level: | High School Student Expecting to Graduate in June 2015 |
I am a highschooler in the DC area working on an independently designed and conducted project exploring hydrogel assisted stem cell chondrogenic differentiation. In addition to my own project, I have interned at NCATS working on analytical chemistry and NIDCR working on oral cancer in mouse models.
I hope to continue my research into college, and one day apply it to a clinical setting.
Achievements/Awards/Recognition: Member of the Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC) program.
Responsibilities: Conducted an individually planned research project on hydrogel assisted stem cell chondrogenic differentiation
Hardware Skills: Cell culture technique, hydrogel formation and culture, stem cell chondrogenic differentiation culture, RNA extraction from hydrogel, RT-PCR, microscopy scanning and imaging
Software Skills: fiji/imagej
Responsibilities: Assisted a staff scientist with their research on oral cancer using mouse models
Hardware Skills: Cell culture technique, mouse procedures and handling, DNA extraction and PCR, western blots, tissue sectioning, immunohistochemisty, one and two photo fluorescent microscopy, image analysis
